The other day my mom brought over a book that she thought I would really enjoy. I'm only half way through but already I love this book! It's called Choosing to See by Mary Beth Chapman. She's the wife of Steven Curtis Chapman. The main theme of the book as far as I can tell is God's grace. How Mary Beth's life never seemed to work out the way she'd planned, hmmm, this sounds so very familiar to me! The couple has
3 children of their own and another one in Heaven, and 3 adopted little girls from China. One of the little girls Maria is killed in a tragic accident. Her brother accidentally ran over her in their driveway.
Like I said, I'm only halfway through the book but I ran across this and I wanted to share it. It's beautiful and everything I would ever want to say but don't have the words for.
With Hope, song by Steven Curtis Chapman
This is not at all how
We thought it was supposed to be
We had so many plans for you
We had so many dreams
And now you've gone away
And left us with the memories of your smile
And nothing we can say
And nothing we can do
Can take away the pain
The pain of losing you, but
We can cry with hope
We can say goodbye with hope
'Cause we know our goodbye is not the end, oh no
And we can grieve with hope
Theres a place where we'll see your face again
We'll see your face again
And never have I known
Anything so hard to understand
And never have I questioned more
The wisdom of God's plan
But through the cloud of tears
I see the Father smile and say well done
And I imagine you
Where you wanted most to be
Seeing all your dreams come true
'Cause now your home
And now you're free, and...
We wait with hope
And we ache with hope
We hold on with hope
We let go with hope
So much truth to these words, I'm going to have to look for this song so I can hear it myself. Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh, I have been wanting to read that book. I have the CD. Wish we lived near each other, I would lend it to you.
Here's a youtube video of the song:

They came to town on Thursday and I wanted to see them so bad but it sold out. I didn't know she had a book. I am going to send my husband to get it :)
I just finished this book last week. I loved it! She is so honest about her life and her grief. I also loved the song. It was one of the songs we played at Shyla's graveside service. I always think of her when I hear it.
I bet that book is so good! I didn't know she even wrote one!!
Such beautiful words 'with hope'.
Thanks for sharing.
love,
ebe
I just bought the song. Thank you for sharing it. I will also be looking into getting the book.
The song is on my Granting Hope blog. I've loved it ever since we lost Grant. You should get the Beauty Will Rise CD too. It's got all the songs about losing a child on it. (With hope isn't on there though, but SEE is. My fave.)
As for your hospital memorial- I like the second one and the last one best.
Hugs!
